Medical Biochemistry

What are the students really being taught in MSc Medical Biochemistry/ Medical Microbiology?
Are they destined just to be the Biochemists/ Microbiologists in a clinical lab/ hospital ?
Why are the students not trying hard to get into the research field and contribute in this field also?
I will be more than satisfied if some one would initiate a spark in the young talented minds and give them the moral support for the same.
